More on the 150th anniversary event... over 100 people there when the speeches were being made.
BBC Radio London interviewed Robert Holden before the event started, and a news
item about the 150th anniversary appeared during the afternoon. The South London Press sent a
photographer and took a group photo at the end, with everyone holding
their by-then-empty-of-cava glasses in the air!
Jim Davidson not only generously sponsored the event (along with Susan Sharp of Sharp Works), but also donated his shop window for the afternoon and the next couple of weeks. To those who couldn't make it, do go and look at the historic poster.
A commemorative certificate was created by South East Rail, who turned out in support, and a celebration cake was presented to two of the station staff.
The Forum are organising a film show on Sat 8 Sep at 8pm projecting Buster Keaton's 1926 classic film The General onto the facade of the station. Live piano accompaniment. bring a chair. Posters are out now - see you there!
