On 6 June 2013, a year to the day after the unveiling of the bust of Thomas Lynn Bristowe in Brockwell Hall, we enjoyed the first screening of the 20-minute video: "Thomas Lynn Bristowe MP Comes Home: the Journey".
Angus Carter's film documents the discovery of the bust, its conservation, subsequent removal to Herne Hill, and final return and unveiling in Brockwell Hall. You can see his film here or on YouTube.
If you want to find out more, the Herne Hill Society will be showing this film on Wed 11 December at 7:45pm at the United Church Hall, at the junction of Red Post Hill and Herne Hill.
An interpretation panel has been placed in Brockwell Hall by the bust with more information about Mr Bristowe and how he created the Park.
Tragically, Bristowe died of a heart attack at the official opening on 2 June 1892 - a hot and sunny day, as it was this year.
